"Black art" up close – the Print Shop

As a print workshop and experimentation laboratory, the Print Shop is the museum education facilitation venue of the Gutenberg Museum. It is the site of a large number of special tours and workshops for children, adolescents, and adults. As a very unique space for projects it also offers the opportunity to experience the history and stories of printing up close and personal and to experiment with own script or printing materials.

Visitors of all ages, both amateurs and trained printers, can immerse themselves in the "black art" at the Print Shop. Various lead and wooden letters, toggle lever presses, rotogravure presses, and proof presses invite visitors to creatively experiment and explore, while professional offers complement the scope of services. The Print Shop is also glad to handle print orders (business cards, documents, gift cards, etc.).

Numerous event formats, from childrens' birthdays to holiday programs, allow children and adolsecents to explore the world of printing. From allowing visitors to independently become creative with words, images, or scripts to offering a practical introduction to the venerable printing profession – the print workshop turns creative (print) wishes into reality.
